Mark Pollicott and I are looking at the original notebook and we think it seems to say:
"Symbolic dynamics for (illegible word beginning with A), Smale, Newhouse, Lorentz"
We think that this says:
"Symbolic dynamics for Abraham-Smale, Newhouse, Lorentz"
We think this because there is a page headed examples in the notebook, and "Abraham-Smale" is one of the examples. That seems to fit here.
